RB73

RB73 is a Dutch family-owned business where all production, design, and development take place at their own factory. RB73 manufactures high-quality outdoor fireplaces in a modern design.

All RB73 products are made of Corten steel and are delivered untreated as standard. Over time, they will naturally rust and develop a beautiful orange-brown color. Corten steel is highly durable and can last up to 10 times longer than regular steel.

The products enhance any outdoor space and serve as an attractive decorative feature in the garden, even when not in use.

Outdoor garden fireplace

"No terrace without fire!”

The motto from the Dutch company behind RB73 says it all. The company takes its garden fireplaces very seriously and sets a high standard. RB73 has a passion for fire, and especially for outdoor garden fireplaces.

Creating a relaxed and stylish outdoor atmosphere that you can enjoy with friends and family is something RB73 can definitely help you achieve.

The team designs, produces, and develops outdoor garden fireplaces that all create exactly this feeling. All products are handmade in the Netherlands, resulting in a very high-quality product. The fact that they are handcrafted adds an extra touch of quality to the design, and as a customer, you know that real care and craftsmanship have gone into each piece.

Garden fireplace with chimney

RB73 stands out, among other things, by designing the garden fireplaces in its range with chimneys, which adds an extra edge to an already striking look. The expression is raw, and the chimney detail may evoke thoughts of DIY projects from the 1990s, when barbecue enthusiasts built charcoal grills from empty oil drums and similarly made use of chimney features.

The distinctive chimneys on RB73’s garden fireplaces are not only aesthetic but also practical, as they effectively direct smoke away from the fire, creating a more comfortable experience for users. The robust materials and industrial design ensure that RB73’s fireplaces fit perfectly into both modern and rustic settings, giving them a versatility that appeals to a wide range of styles and tastes.

rb73 wood fireplace

Garden fireplace steel

RB73 produces outdoor garden fireplaces in the highly sought-after material Corten steel. As a standard, these wood-burning stoves are delivered untreated, but over time they will develop rust though only on the surface.

The material is highly resistant to weather conditions, which allows the products to last for a very long time. In other words: place your RB73 product outdoors and let nature do the rest. This way, the surface will rust and develop the desired look. It is important to emphasise that the rust only occurs on the surface, meaning the outdoor fireplaces will not rust through the entire steel structure.

The outdoor fireplaces from RB73 are a series of products, each of which is unique. In addition, the fireplaces are enclosed, preventing sparks from escaping and disturbing you while you enjoy the outdoor warmth. The fireplaces feature striking designs with a raw, old-school look, and especially the mounted chimneys complete the overall expression.

The history of Corten steel

The word “Corten” can be divided into two parts, where COR stands for “corrosion resistance” – meaning protection against penetrating rust – and TEN stands for “tensile strength,” which can best be described as durability or toughness.

Originally, Corten steel was developed in the United States by the company US Steel with the aim of creating a weather-resistant steel product. The steel itself is made from a combination of materials such as steel alloyed with copper, silicon, nickel, and chromium. The distinctive feature of Corten steel is its brown-orange rust colour and long lifespan.

By adding other metals to the steel, a stable layer of rust forms on the surface, which protects the deeper layers of material from oxygen exposure. In contrast to other types of metal, the rust that develops on Corten steel is not the result of wear and tear, but instead acts as a protective barrier against corrosive rust.

RB73 wood-burning stove

How to maintain your RB73 wood-burning stove

All outdoor wood-burning stoves from the RB73 brand are made of 3 mm thick Corten steel. However, all mounting materials are made of stainless steel. This ensures that the product has a long lifespan. In addition, the product requires no additional finishing or treatment. Corten steel is specifically designed for outdoor use.

We recommend the following when maintaining your outdoor RB73 wood-burning stove:

  1. If your stove has not been used for a while, remove the ash so that the stove does not become damp and difficult to light.
  2. Make sure to keep the glass clean so that dirt does not burn on over time, as it can be difficult to remove.

Advantages and disadvantages of Corten steel

Advantages:

  • Visually appealing
  • Extremely durable – lasts up to 10 times longer than regular steel
  • Strong material similar in strength to stainless steel
  • Requires no maintenance
  • 100% recyclable

Disadvantages:

  • The material is relatively expensive
  • Initially, rainwater that has come into contact with Corten steel can cause rust stains on surfaces such as tiles

RB73 accessories

The Dutch manufacturers behind the RB73 brand have naturally created a category of accessories that complement the outdoor garden fireplaces in the best possible way.

The products in this category include, among others, firewood storage modules such as Wood Storage, which are elegantly designed in Corten steel to maintain a cohesive overall look.

Your split firewood will undoubtedly be better protected from wind and weather with a module like Wood Storage, and the overall impression is clearly enhanced when both your garden fireplace and the storage module match in design and colour.

In addition to the Wood Storage firewood storage module, you will also find the Blox and Bloxx modules.

The Blox module is designed in Corten steel with a divider shaped like an X. The module is sturdy enough to be used as a seating option.

The Corten steel ensures that the firewood storage module matches your RB73 garden fireplace, which is also made of Corten steel.

The Bloxx module in the same category is twice the size of its smaller counterpart Blox and is equipped with two X-shaped dividers.

The Bloxx module can also be used as a seating option, and for both the Blox and Bloxx modules, a wooden top plate can be purchased separately and placed on top, making them more comfortable to sit on.

If you want to further protect your terrace or garden, it is also possible to purchase a base plate made of Corten steel.
